For the love of all things dogs -  bringing dog lovers together since 1884For more than 130 years, the American Kennel Club has been the country’s leading authority on all things dogs, acting as the premier resource for dog lovers, from the fancier to the everyday owner.

The Parent Club formed in 1913 and incorporated February 7, 1916.   The GSDCA provides a venue that allows breeders, owners, handlers and judges to contribute freely any information relevant to the breed.

A semi-open registry that promotes the health and welfare of companion animals through a reduction in the incidence of genetic disease.  The OFA database allows breeders to look up individual dogs and their health testing status. 

An open health database established by the AKC Canine Health Foundation and the OFA.  CHIC was created by partnering with participating parent clubs to research and maintain information on the health issues prevalent in specific breeds. They have established a recommended protocol for breed-specific health screenings. Dogs tested in accordance with that protocol are recognized with a CHIC number and certification.
