2017 Veteran's Day Parade

Looking forward to seeing many of you at the parade since this is on a Saturday this year.

We are #14 in this year’s line-up - close to the front and done early!!!!

The extended weather forecast right now is showing a high of 83 degrees with some clouds for November 11.  It is subject to change, of course, but we should have a great day for us and the dogs and be done early as well.  Our staging area has changed.  We will stage in the extreme NW corner of the North Phoenix Baptist Church parking lot, See the Map, just off the Bethany Home Road and Central Ave intersection. You will need a parking pass to get in,  see below.  There is a wall along there so the dogs should not be distracted by traffic.

Central will be closed down anyway.  Maps and other information will also be posted on the official parade website  www.phoenixveteransdayparade.org so keep track of information as it is posted.  Parking passes will be distributed as soon as they are available.

Here is the link to download the parking pass for the parade:

PLEASE TRY TO ARRIVE BETWEEN 9:00 AM AND 9:30 AM.  We will also have a vintage  pickup truck following our entry.  If any dog gets fatigued he or she can ride.  The handler can walk along side the truck.  We will also have two teams from the Maricopa County Sheriffs Office and teams from Luke AFB joining us once again this year.  Please welcome them.

We are cutting it close on the number of volunteers available.  If they all show up it should be okay, but if more than two miss us, we may not have enough people to carry all the banners, so please have someone available to carry club banner.

They divided the staging area into quads.  We are ENTRY 14 and located in the NW1 quad. Again see the map.

You can be dropped off via the entrance to the church on Bethany Home Road or via 2nd Street and Bethany Home Road.  DO NOT TRY TO USE CENTRAL AVENUE. IT WILL BE CLOSED DOWN AND FLOATS AND VEHICLES WILL BE THERE.

Please try to have someone drop you off at the staging area. They can then use the Parking Pass to park at the VA parking lot to pick you up.  If you park at the church you will need to find your own way back. There is not shuttle service provided.

VERY IMPORTANT – We need to keep moving as we go along the parade route.  Emphasis on  this.    Do not stop.  If there are vehicles ahead of us that break down, we go around them.  We need to keep our interval with the entry ahead of us. There will be parade marshals all along the route to keep us moving this year.

LORETTA SWIT of MASH fame is the Celebrity Grand Marshal this year. She is an animal advocate so who knows…if she sees the dogs during staging she may want to stop by!!!

There is some kind of event at Steele Indian School Park after the parade sponsored by “Herozona that begins at 1:00 PM.  This is a new organization and they will have booths and such.  I don’t know about food.  You are welcome to stop by after the parade and check them out.
